Google Home is a range of smart speaker products created by Google that allow users to speak voice commands that enable functions via Google Assistant. Google Assistant is the virtual “AI” assistant developed by Google.

There are many different ways that people leverage the utility of the Google Home system in their everyday lives. One of the main functions is that it acts as an extension of the Google Assistant they use on their phone devices. Using a voice command like “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” will trigger the voice assistant to listen and act on voice commands given.

This can be used for things like checking the weather by saying “will it rain this week” or some other kind of query. The voice assistant will use its smart algorithm (like the algorithm used in the Google search engine) to determine the intent of the spoken query and deliver the best result.

Unlike Google voice search, which will still display text results, Google Assistant will read results to the user. This means that people using Google Home can effortlessly speak voice commands as they go about their home performing other tasks.

It enables people to be more informed and get answers to their queries on a whim. Instead of wondering whether it will rain during the week but never bothering to look it up, a user can simply speak their thoughts out loud, and Google will deliver the answer.

Google Home does more than just check the weather – it can be used for a range of pre-programmed commands as well. One popular use is to sync up the Google Assistant to different function within the home. By simply saying a command such as “Hey Google, I’m home” a list of pre-selected actions can occur, such as turning on the lights in certain rooms and playing a selected music playlist.
